Hi! We’re Tara and Eric Hainsworth, Owners of Hainsworth & Company salon.
Hainsworth & Company is a salon that aspires to create beauty. From the moment Tara set out to pursue her lifelong dream of having a career in the hair industry, her desire to grow and create something bigger was something she couldn’t ignore.
Through working in various different positions and salons, the calling to create her own salon was always a whisper...and in 2017, joined by her husband Eric, she took the leap to create a salon of her very own!
WHO WE ARE TODAY
Today, Hainsworth & Company salon is a destination for clients who are looking to achieve their dream hair with the help of elite Hair Designers.
When sitting in our chair, we want our clients to feel cared for, inspired, and empowered through education. Our team goes above and beyond to provide an exceptional salon experience, while also taking the time to educate clients on at-home hair care. The result? A relationship built on trust...and of course, beautiful hair!
Hainsworth & Company was also created to provide a home for a select group of elite hair designers who have a passion for continued education. Our salon provides an environment for designers to learn, grow, build relationships, and create hair plans for their customers.
How did you get your start as a hair designer?
It all started when I was 12 years old and Santa brought me a barbie mannequin doll head complete with a battery powered blow dryer. Right then and there, my mind had been made--hair was my calling and I've never looked back since!
Why are you so passionate about hair?
There's no better feeling than watching the beauty that is contanied within these women become unleashed and exposed! It's almost addictive to see the confidence in the way they walk out of the salon in comparison to when they walked into the salon. Knowing that I can play a part in helping someone embrace self confidence makes me feel like I could change the world. That's how powerful beauty and confidence can become.

I've had 12 teeth pulled from the dentist! I grew too many teeth and currently have a before and after of my mouth on my dentist's wall becuase my mouth was so bad.
There are a few of those crazy looking teeth currently in my mother's guest bathroom because they were so crazy that she couldn't get herself to throw them away.
How did you get your start as a hair designer?
When I was growing up, I remember thinking that doing hair was the COOLEST job ever, and I was right! I always admired hair designers but I never thought it was something I would get to do. I was always a bit of a “nerd” in school, so doing hair was definitely not something anyone expected of me. But, after 2 years of attending traditional college, something sparked in me: I was going to break the stereotype of the “ditsy hair stylist”.
I knew that I was smart, that I had a passion and that I was going to be good at it, because I was willing to WORK. I left college and worked to save up money for cosmetology school. I signed up without telling my friends or family until after I had already started school—I haven’t looked back since. It was the BEST decision I ever made!
Why are you so passionate about hair?
Getting my own hair done is truly one of the greatest feelings, and I want to provide that experience for others because I think EVERYONE deserves it! There’s truly nothing like it. I love the feeling of getting to pamper my clients and seeing a shift in how they carry themselves from when they walk in to when they walk out.
Being a hair designer is so much more than just knowing how to formulate color or cutting the perfect bob--it’s about providing an experience from start to finish that creates a FEELING of positivity, confidence, and true beauty.
What is a hair trend you're currently loving?
I’m loving what we call the “money piece!” A money piece is when the hair that frames your face is slightly lighter and more stark than the rest of your hair. It creates a bright “pop” that really compliments the face.

I am obsessed with Disneyland and will talk about it with my clients during an entire hair appointment.
How did you get your start as a hair designer?
When I was 18, I toured the Aveda Institute to become a hair designer, but decided to attend ASU instead, where I received my degree in education.
Spending time in the education field, I realized I wasn’t passionate or happy about my work. I got back to my roots of wanting to become a hair designer as a client at H&Co.! I decided to attend the Aveda Institute this year and will be graduating in July, doing what I love!
Why are you so passionate about hair?
Without hair designers, nothing would be as special or amazing in our lives. Your baby’s first hair cut, a job interview, a first date, the holidays, etc. We truly provide self-esteem and I love to make people feel like who they truly are at the core of their soul.
What is a hair trend you're currently loving?
I am currently loving hair accessories such as bandanas, gold pins, etc. These accessories can elevate a half up half down look, a pony, or a braid!

I taught 7th grade English for 2.5 years!
How did you get your start as a hair designer?
My interest in hair started when I was in junior high, when my older sister went to cosmetology school and started doing my hair. My interest peaked and I scoured magazines and TV shows, recreating hairstyles I liked.
All through high school, I knew it’s what I wanted to do. I even went to college for a few years (exploring my options) and still knew it was the path I would take.
Why are you so passionate about hair?
My passion for hair comes from years and years of dreaming of all the things I could do in the industry. I love when I can help a client feel excited about their hair. I also love being able to create something with my hands--it’s my creative outlet and leaves me feeling fulfilled.
What is a hair trend you're currently loving?
I am loving the newest version of the 90’s comeback with the blunt bobs and soft round brushed styles.
Give us a random fact about you!
I was obsessed with horses growing up; I tried to convince my mom that our backyard was big enough to keep one.
What is your background and what led you to where you are today?
I was in the golf industry from when I was 15 years old. I was on the path to settling into the industry, which is what encouraged Tara and I to move to Arizona back in 2009. When Tara's dream of owning her salon became more and more of a reality, I wanted nothing more than to help her achieve that.
Now, I find myself in the hair Industry. It's something completely different, but Tara's dream has quickly become mine as well.
What has been one of your favorite memories at the salon?
One month after we opened our original H&Co. salon, I saved the building from burning down. I showed up to work one day, and I could tell that it smelled like an electrical fire, so I went back to check the power box and immediately evacuated the building.
I'll never forget watching the firemen putting out the flames that were only in the electrical box. Now, it's one of the funniest stories we all share because of how crazy we all acted in the moment of panic.
Tell us a little bit about your role at Hainsworth & Company.
As Co-Owner, I do everything from scheduling appointments, handling all of the finances, and even watering the plants.
